Snake & Dragon 2025 Reiwa 7th Year Lunar New Year Spring Festival January 29, 2025 Molded Incense Stamps
“On New Year’s Eve, burn incense to close out the year, and on New Year’s Day, burn incense to welcome the new year.”
Our popular incense series now features a new type of molded incense! This Incense Stamp set is inspired by the 2024 zodiac sign Dragon and the 2025 zodiac sign Snake.
In Japan, it has long been a tradition to burn incense during the New Year. On New Year’s Eve, lighting Dragon incense while reflecting on the past year symbolizes closure. On New Year’s Day, burning Snake incense purifies the space and allows you to welcome the new year with a fresh mindset.
“Incense Stamp” refers to incense crafted in the shapes of auspicious symbols. Made without additives, this incense is gentle on the body and allows you to fully enjoy its natural aroma. This is an exclusive, additive-free, and fragrance-free product, proudly made in Japan!
Whether for New Year’s celebrations, purifying your space, or refreshing your mind, why not welcome the new year with the soothing scent of natural incense?
〇 Dragon (辰): For Good Fortune and Energy
Incense Material: Sacred Cedar from Ise Grand Shrine
This incense is made from a part of a sacred cedar tree that once stood at the Kotaijingu (Inner Shrine) of Ise Grand Shrine, which enshrines the Yata-no-Kagami, one of Japan’s Three Sacred Treasures. The tree fell during Typhoon No. 18 in 2009.
Ise Grand Shrine consists of the Inner Shrine, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami, and the Outer Shrine, dedicated to Toyouke Omikami, the guardian deity of food, clothing, and shelter. Cedar trees that grow within the shrine grounds are called “Jingu Cedar.”
Since trees within the shrine are strictly protected and cannot be cut down, only rare, naturally fallen trees over 300 years old are renamed Miyama Cedar and released to the public in extremely limited quantities.
〇 Snake (巳): Symbol of Wealth and Good Luck
Incense Material: Yoshino Hinoki Cypress
Yoshino Hinoki is a premium cypress wood grown in Yoshino Town, Nara Prefecture, nurtured by its unique soil, climate, and rainfall.
Alongside cedar, Yoshino Hinoki is one of Japan’s most renowned woods, often mentioned alongside Kiso Hinoki as a premium brand. With a forestry history of over 500 years, it is highly regarded nationwide for its exceptional quality.
